El Zopilote Eco Hostel in Ometepe is a sustainable project founded in June 2002. It was started by Cristiano and his father Bruno, with the support of Lina, Lucia and Daniele, and it is still a family-run place. Today Cristiano’s children, Lena and Kai, are part of the daily life of the farm.
From Eco Hostel to Permaculture Farm on Ometepe
In 2004 the site grew from a simple lodging into a permaculture farm, after Cristiano attended Nicaragua’s first Permaculture Design Course. Today our land is a living encyclopedia where visitors can discover sustainability, tropical plants and natural living.
Wellness, Community & Food
Wellness and community are at the heart of what we do. Guests can join daily practice on our yoga deck or take part in workshops, ceremonies and festivals held throughout the year.
Our organic restaurant and pizzeria cooks with fresh ingredients grown on-site. We also run a mushroom farm and make a wide range of natural products, from sourdough bread and chocolate to natural cosmetics.
