At El Zopilote Permaculture Farm on Ometepe Island, our restaurant serves vegetarian and vegan food made with fresh ingredients, many of them grown directly here on the farm.
One of the stars of our new menu is our fresh oyster mushrooms, cultivated here at El Zopilote by Te Quiero Hongo, our own mushroom-growing project.
From mushroom bruschetta and garlic mushrooms to mushroom pasta, salads, vegan béchamel dishes and our homemade mushroom chorizo, we use our mushrooms in many different ways.
Our idea is simple: grow good food, cook it fresh and serve something delicious that is also connected to the land around us.
The mushrooms are harvested fresh, brought directly to our kitchen and transformed into creative vegetarian and vegan dishes. They are naturally low in fat and calories and are a delicious way to add more sustainable food to your diet.
But the restaurant is not only about mushrooms. You can also find breakfasts, homemade bread, farm salads, vegan dishes, pasta, curries, fresh juices, herbal teas, desserts and other products prepared at El Zopilote.
We also try to keep our food affordable and accessible, with very good value for the quality we offer. Every day we prepare special dishes of the day, often using fresh ingredients available from the farm, so there is always something tasty, healthy and reasonably priced to try.
