September 3–4, 2026 | El Zopilote, Ometepe, Nicaragua*
Would you like to create a sustainable project but don’t know where to start?
Join us for a *2-day practical introduction to Permaculture Design* at El Zopilote Sustainability Learning Center, a permaculture farm with more than 20 years of experience in the tropics.
During the course you will learn how to *observe a property, understand its needs and possibilities, and create your own permaculture design step by step.*
*DAY 1 – LEARN & EXPLORE*
We will introduce the basic principles of Permaculture Design and explore El Zopilote to see real examples in action:
solar and renewable energy, water systems, greywater recycling, natural building with cob, compost toilets, gardens, nurseries, companion planting, aquaponics and more.
*DAY 2 – DESIGN & PRACTICE*
It’s time to put the ideas on paper!
Working with graph paper and simple design tools, you will develop a permaculture design for a real property. Together we will discuss solutions, mistakes, questions and different possibilities.
The goal is simple: *by the end of the course, you will have a much clearer idea of how to start designing your own sustainable project.*
