OMETEPE GATHERING 2027, IX EDITION
11 to 16 February 2027, El Zopilote, Ometepe Island, Nicaragua
WHAT IT IS
The Ometepe Gathering is a community gathering we organize every year at El Zopilote Permaculture Farm, on the slopes of Maderas Volcano. Six days to meet people, learn from each other and live together in nature. It is not a festival with a stage: it is a temporary village where everyone takes part.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Cacao ceremonies, daily temazcal, ancestral dances and gatherings of Abya Yala, daily yoga, acroyoga, women’s and men’s circles, a red tent for women, circus, silks, juggling, bonfire, live music, tea shop and a kids space.
There is also a mud bath you can enjoy whenever you like.
It is a vegan, alcohol free space, with no wifi and respect for nature and for the people around you. Photos and phone use are not allowed during the gathering.
NO MONEY INSIDE
During the gathering no one sells and no one buys. On Tuesday 16, when the gathering ends, we hold a market where everyone can sell and buy.
FAMILIES WELCOME
The gathering is super child friendly, with a dedicated kids space. Kids up to 12 enter free.

7 am yoga

Evening: songs and fire shows
The program will be shared shortly before the gathering. Activities are listed by day, not by hour: we want people to come and live the gathering, not just drop in for one activity.

Full pass (4 or 5 days): 98 USD, wristband from Thursday to Tuesday
3 days in a row: 77 USD
2 days in a row: 52 USD
1 day: 28 USD
Kids up to 12: free
Day passes run from Thursday to Monday. Passes for 2 or 3 days must be consecutive days.
Every day you attend counts as a full day: there are no half days or partial prices. A day pass is valid until the end of that day, not for 24 hours. Come early to enjoy the whole day and the meals: yoga starts at 7 am.
All passes are non refundable.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
3 organic vegan community meals a day, camping area, compost toilets, open air showers and all activities.

WHERE TO STAY
The pass includes a spot in the camping area: bring your own tent. You can also camp for free the night before the gathering (Wednesday 10 February) and the night after (Tuesday 16 February), even though there are no activities on those nights. There will be security.

WHAT TO BRING
Tent, flashlight, your own plate, cup and cutlery, water bottle, natural mosquito repellent, a warm layer for the night, and cash for transport and for the final market.
HOW TO GET THERE
Ferry from San Jorge (Rivas) to Moyogalpa, then bus or taxi to El Madroñal, 1 km before Balgüe. The farm is 300 meters up the hill from the bus stop.
ARTISTS WELCOME
Musicians, jugglers and workshop facilitators: free entry in exchange for a daily performance or workshop. Write to us before the event.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED: OMETEPE GATHERING 2027
11 to 16 February 2027, Ometepe Island, Nicaragua
Every year the Ometepe Gathering is built by the people who live it. Now we are looking for the hands and hearts that will help us build the IX edition. There are two ways to join.
BEFORE THE GATHERING, STARTING NOW
Live the preparation from the inside, with the volcano behind you and the lake in front.
We offer: a tent spot in Elsewhereland, plus rice, beans and a few other things to cook.
You give: a few hours a day of work in the gathering area, and help spreading the word on Instagram and in person around the island.
DURING THE GATHERING
We need 14 people:
Entrance: 6 volunteers, in teams of two, on 8 hour shifts
Food: 6 volunteers
Food circle: 1 person who calls everyone to the circle and makes sure the food is ready and there is enough for all
General care: 1 volunteer for bathrooms, toilet paper, water and fires
LET’S BE HONEST
The Ometepe Gathering is already very affordable. Volunteering saves you about 100 dollars, not much more. If you are coming only for the savings, it is not worth it.
It is worth it for something else. Being part of the organization is a beautiful experience: you live the gathering from the inside, you are more involved, you meet a lot of people, and the gathering becomes yours too. Every year our volunteers leave us wonderful feedback, and many tell us it was the best part of their experience.
