Transparency in Activities and Workshops at El Zopilote

How we manage donations, contributions, and participation to keep everything clear for everyone

To keep everything clear and transparent, this is how our activity system works.

On Ometepe Island, many different places organize activities.
We have noticed, however, that information about whether an activity is paid or free is often confusing or misleading.
For this reason, we want to be completely clear and transparent with our guests.

1. Free activities with voluntary donation

Some activities are free of charge.
Participation does not require any payment.

Anyone who wishes to support the activity may leave a completely voluntary donation, from zero to any amount they choose.

2. Activities with a fixed price or a clear price range

Some activities have a clearly defined price or a clearly defined price range.

In these cases, participation requires a payment.

When a fixed price is set, that amount applies to everyone.

When a price range is communicated (for example, 5–10 USD), participants choose the amount they pay within that range, based on their possibilities and on the value they feel they receive.

In all cases, the payment structure is communicated in advance, so guests know exactly what to expect.

3. Mandatory donations

We do not offer activities with mandatory donations.
If a payment is mandatory, it is not a donation.

4. “Voluntary” donations with a minimum amount

We do not use this system either.
If there is a minimum amount, the donation is no longer voluntary.

Thank you for your understanding.
