The Concepción Volcano hike is one of the most impressive adventures on Ometepe. The trail climbs steadily from dense forest up to open volcanic slopes. A Demanding and Rewarding Ascent
We want to be very clear about this adventure. This is a difficult, long, and steep hike. The weather changes rapidly, and you will face exposed sections near the top. Therefore, it is absolutely not suitable for beginners. You should only go with an experienced mountain guide and never hike alone.
For a slightly less demanding trekking experience, we suggest trying our Maderas Volcano Hike. After conquering either volcano, you will definitely want to relax. You can enjoy a massage back at the hostel.

Difficulty & Safety: The hike is incredibly tough and requires excellent physical condition. You must only go with an experienced local guide.

What to Bring: Bring plenty of water, food, and high-energy snacks. Pack something warm for the windy upper sections. Wear good hiking shoes, similar to what you would use for Vulcan Maderas.

Meeting Time: Be ready at 5:15 AM sharp to catch the early Bus Oscuro.

Transportation: You will meet the guide directly at the bus stop, right in front of the BUSHOP. The tourist pays for the round-trip bus ticket.
