We understand that traveling with kids requires a special kind of environment. We do our best to make El Zopilote a space where the whole family can feel at ease, peaceful, educational, sustainable, and deeply connected with nature. Parents can relax knowing their children are experiencing a healthy, off-grid lifestyle. While the kids explore, families can enjoy healthy, organic food from our farm and sleep comfortably in our eco hostel accommodations.
Colibrí: An Alternative School for Traveling Families
We also proudly support “Colibrí,” a small alternative school and nursery run by Glenda, mother of Kai and our neighbor. Colibrí is conveniently located right here on the property, tucked away just behind the BUSHOP at the Zopilote First Entrance.
Inspired by Waldorf principles and deeply rooted in permaculture, Colibrí offers a warm, nature-based learning environment. The school features beautiful gardens, interactive play spaces, creative activities, and plenty of outdoor time. It is incredibly important for us, as a permaculture project, to help and collaborate with such an educational initiative, especially one dedicated to children.
Join Our Educational Community
Traveling families staying at our family hostel in Ometepe are welcome to join Colibrí, even for just a few days. This gives your children a unique opportunity to learn, play, socialize with other kids, and grow during their stay on Ometepe. It is the perfect blend of a family vacation and an enriching educational experience.
