Permaculture farm tour: Learning to Work with Nature, Not Against It
Welcome to our guided Permaculture tour at El Zopilote! We offer our educational farm tour around 2 times a week, completely free for our guests staying at the hostel. Visitors from outside are also very welcome to join us; we simply ask that you make a small consumption at our farm restaurant in support of our ecological project.
The tour lasts approximately one and a half to two hours. It is guided either by Cri, the founder and owner, or by one of our trained farm volunteers. Because nature changes constantly with the seasons, we announce the weekly tour schedule on our social channels. You can follow our updates on Instagram at @fincaelzopilote or check the reception board at El Zopilote Hostel, where we post our latest timetables. Usually is Monday and Thursday at 11 am, meeting at reception El Zopilote
Every tour is a unique experience because there is always so much to explore, and two hours are never enough to cover everything. In general, we explore our permaculture plantations, our greywater recycling system, the organic vegetable gardens, our solar power setup, and eco-construction design. Our guides share insights on living soil, guild planting, food forest management, the bio-char production area, organic composting, and syntropic agriculture.
It is a wonderful two-hour walk where we learn how to work with nature rather than against it, observing how many natural systems support life at El Zopilote. If you wish to deepen your knowledge beyond the tour, you can also join our Practical Permaculture School or sign up for our upcoming permaculture design course.
